Advanced Assesment(NICU/PICU)
- Complete a full floor assessment in addition to the following:
- Chest x-ray results: How expanded are the lungs? Where is the tip of you ETT? Are there infiltrates, atelectasis, fluid, blebs, mucus plugs, etc.
- ABG results
- Capnography- Capnometry (PICU): Is it close to blood gases? How far off is it from the PCO2? Is it being used just for trending?
- Perfusion/patient color
- Oxygen and specialty gas requirements
- Ventilator status
- Is this patient's first intubation? If not, why was patient intubated before?
- Ventilator days (is it day 1 or day 31)
- Type of airway: size, depth, cuffed vs. non-cuffed, leak around airway?
- Mode
- Oxygen/specialty gas
- Sedation
- Is patient on vasopressors? If so how much?
- Has patient failed extubation? If so why and how many times?
- If patient is on pressure trigger why?
- If patient has tubing compliance off why?
